Welcome from the students
Springfield has a wide range of subjects you can choose from for your GCSEs; you pick these subjects at the end of Year 8 and start your learning journey in Year 9. Many of the teachers and their vibrant lessons are unforgettable; all departments are full of teachers willing to go the extra mile to make your learning experience right for you! Beyond the constraints of the classroom countless trips and competitions are there to keep students motivated, ranging from academic visits to Southampton University, to Geography trips to nearby forests, as well as international trips including to Belgium, Iceland and Cologne.
Aside from the trips and the lessons, the environment here at Springfield School is very supportive. We are all encouraged by our Tutors and Heads of Achievement to do our very best and achieve our full potential. This includes the School Council and the many clubs we offer such as crochet club for the more ‘crafty’ students, or badminton for the more ‘sporty’; both of which are incredibly popular. These clubs encourage us to aim higher and make the most of every opportunity.
On a more personal level, what we think Springfield does best is look after students from the beginning to the very end. When pupils first arrive, they tend to be quite nervous, Springfield is a large establishment. However, very quickly with the help of their Tutors, teachers, older students and friends, new students ease into the secondary environment and begin to flourish. Springfield has a great community, and as one student said to us, “At Springfield I have made lots of friends, and have felt very welcome here”.
Lastly, we want to leave you with the message that Springfield is a deeply caring school that continues to aid pupils to be their very best selves.
